The following is a list of all the knowledge/skills competencies currently available for this course.  Each set of competencies is essentially the list of assessment items that will be used to evaluate your level of competency in any given area.   Use these lists to help prepare for each of the skill assessments you will be given in each subject area.

Computer Operations ^

Proficiency in basic computer operations:
A Identifies computer hardware components and related peripheral devices
B Performs basic operating system commands, including creating, storing, copying, moving, renaming and deleting files and folders
C Performs basic file management procedures, including working with hierarchical folder structures, file type associations, file naming conventions and multiple file and folder operations
D Performs proper power-up and power-down procedures
E Sends information to a printer
F Demonstrates proper handling of removable storage media
G Troubleshoots simple software/hardware problems
H Practices proper use of computer terminology
I Abides by software licensing agreements and copyright laws
J Interprets written documentation

Internet Concepts ^

Proficiency in basic Internet concepts:
A Demonstrates a basic understanding of the history of the Internet
B Performs basic functions using a Web browser
C Locates information using search engines and Web directories
D Composes, sends and retrieves e-mail messages

Web Design ^

Proficiency in web design:
A Demonstrates the use of storyboards and flowcharts
B Applies good design principles of proximity, alignment, repetition and contrast
C Views, creates and edits HTML
D Creates target, relative and absolute hyperlinks
E Sets page margins and backgrounds
F Creates and edits tables
G Demonstrates understanding of frames
H Demonstrates understanding of templates and cascading style sheets
I Creates and edits graphics
J Prepares graphic images for the Web
K Creates and edits image maps
L Creates and/or edits animation for the Web
M Creates and/or edits audio for the Web
N Creates and/or edits video for the Web
O Understands the function of web hosting services
P Publishes web pages using FTP and/or other Web publishing utilities
Q Understands and applies usability testing methods
